Just two days after the Philadelphia Eagles made a tremendous acquisition by trading for young defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan, the Eagles are hit with some unfortunate news at the same position.  Former 7th round pick Beau Allen suffered a pectoral injury while working out Thursday.  This injury is being reported to require surgery that can sideline him for possibly 4-6 months.

The Philadelphia Eagles refused to comment on the injury as they were still gathering information on the subject.

Beau Allen was coming off another season of backing up Bennie Logan and Fletcher Cox and was apart of the defensive line rotation that Jim Schwartz instills.  Beau Allen was expected to challenge newly acquired Jernigan for a starting position next to Fletcher Cox.

It looks as if after this unfortunate news to Beau Allen that Jernigan is all but a lock for the starting DT position now.  If Allen is unable to return by the start of the season, DT Destiny Vaeao will hopefully step up into that backup position.
